I very much enjoyed Flose book. It is a short read but covers many heavy topics that I agree need to be heard, especially during this time period.CYENB also touches on topics about sexual abuse, loss and feminism. I believe this book has at least one or two poems that no matter who reads it, they can relate.
The cover is beautiful. I love that it looks hand painted and I can tell it is very sentimental to the author. I also enjoyed that she includes a short story and the beginning of a novel in the back of her book.
Great job Flose on your first book!

I liked some of the poems.
What an amazing book by an amazing young poet. Highly recommend it for everyone.
A powerful, brave, and original debut from Boursiquot. I'm not a regular poetry reader, but this book kept my attention due to Boursiquot's eclectic influences and deeply personal exploration of diverse topics including family, love, religion, mental health, and colonialism. Her activism shines through her crisp and evocative writing. I would highly recommend this book!
This book of poetry was so beautiful. The themes of feminism, black empowerment, self esteem/awareness, love and loss had me both excited and afraid to turn the page because the words really hit home. The only reason I'm disappointed is because I finished it too quickly! I truly appreciate Flose for writing this and encourage others to definitely read it as well.
I knew that when I met Flose during her freshman year of high school that I was in the presence of someone special. Her passion and compassion resonate throughout every piece she creates. She writes about important and relevant themes with such fervor and eloquence that they cannot and should not be ignored. Thank you, Flose. I'm looking forward to reading your second book!
Flose is both unflinching and tender in her debut collection. We see and feel what it is to be a Haitian in America, a Black woman in spaces often threatened by the existence of strong black women and an empath in a increasingly callous world. Flose writes with care and heart. She is colloquial and florid, beautiful and messy. The book radiates with the love of a artist who is doing what they were meant to do.
Flose is a very powerful poet, blogger, essayist. This collection of her poems constantly gets my full attention, holds me, makes me want to read more and re-read what I have read and then re-read again. She is so complex but draws me in, her juxtaposition of nouns and modifiers is seemingly odd, jangles, but simply works in a way unique to her. I have read some of her poems to people who don't read poetry, if anything at all, and each one of them has visibly reacted, been clearly moved. Don't miss this collection.
